Moon

Rules: Cancer / 4th house

Natal significance: The Moon shows your emotions, your feelings, how you nurture, and and how you see your mother. It is traditionally identified with the "feminine" principle. The placement of the Moon by house can show you which realm of your life is most emotionally charged for you.

Transiting significance: The Moon is the fastest-moving planet (note that the Sun and Moon, technically known as luminaries, are usually called planets for convenience), changing signs every two to three days and completing its cycle in roughly twenty-nine days. Hence the Moon rules your moods, the emotional tenor of the day or even hour. The cycles of the Moon govern growth and nurturing as well as emotions; it is a dvisable to start projects around the New Moon, to bring them to fruition or culmination around the Full Moon, and wind them to a close as the moon wanes. Additionally, the period of minutes or hours when the moon is "void of course," or has made its last aspect with a planet before entering a new sign, is traditionally considered a time when "nothing will come of" the activities you initiate. (So it's a good time to do things you don't want to have consequences, like mailing in your taxes or having unprotected sex. Okay, just kidding about that last one.)
